Unclaimed Text

Text to Polyline

When creating patent or industrial design drawings, there are instances where text that is not part of the claim needs to be represented using dashed lines.

AutoCAD software has a command "TXTEXP" that converts text objects into polyline format. However, the tool is unfortunately not available in the AutoCAD LT version.

Steps for converting text to polyline:

  1. First type the required text or sentences or paragraph.

  2. Select the text or whole sentence or paragraph.

  3. In the command box, type 'TXTEXP' and press 'ENTER'

All the text will be converted into polylines. Sometimes, it is required to edit the text by trimming the unnecessary lines. After editing, now it is easy to convert the lines into dash lines or dotted lines. You may change the line weight as per requirement.
